Children's Injury
If your child has recently been involved in an accident and suffered a serious injury or was killed, you may have the legal right to obtain compensation.  Serious injuries can permanently negatively impact your child's health and lifestyle. If the accident was caused by  someone's error, someone's negligence, a dangerous condition, a design flaw or a manufacturing defect, you may be entitled to compensation for your child's injuries and other losses.

According to the Centers for Disease Control motor vehicle injuries are the leading cause of death among children. In the United States during 2002, 1,543 children ages 14 years and younger died as occupants in motor vehicle crashes, and approximately 227,000 were injured. That’s an average of 4 deaths and 622 injuries each day.  Of the children ages 0 to 14 years who were killed in motor vehicle crashes during 2002, 50% were unrestrained. Of the children ages 4 years and younger who were fatally injured in 2002, 40% were unrestrained.

According to the Centers for Disease Control other leading causes of children's accidents include:

Fireworks-Related Injuries - In 2003, four persons died and an estimated 9,300 were treated in emergency departments for fireworks-related injuries in the United States. About 45% of persons injured from fireworks are children ages 14 years and younger.
Playground Injuries - Each year in the United States, emergency departments treat more than 200,000 children ages 14 and younger for playground-related injuries.
Poisonings - In 2000, poison control centers reported approximately 2.2 million poison exposures of which 52.7% occurred among children age 6 and younger.
Traumatic Brain Injury - Among children ages 0 to 14 years, traumatic brain injuries result in an estimated 400,000 emergency department visits each year.
 Fire Deaths and Injuries.
Water-Related Injuries - In 2001, 859 children ages 0 to 14 years died from drowning. Drowning is the second-leading cause of injury-related death for children ages 1 to 14 years.
Teen Drivers - In 2001, more than 4,700 teens ages 16 to 19 died of injuries caused by motor vehicle crashes.
Youth Violence - In 2002, more than 877,700 young people ages 10 to 24 were injured from violent acts. Approximately 1 in 13 required hospitalization.

Children's accident personal injury cases are usually complex and expensive. You should always consult a qualified, licensed lawyer. These personal injury cases are normally handled on a contingency basis. Typically there are no fees unless the lawyer obtains a settlement or award for you.
